You can access the Stage Template Editor in Studiometry by going to the Preferences Window > Project Templates section. When you select a Project Template, all associated Stages Templates will be listed out in the Stage Pipeline box. To edit a Stage Template, you can double-click it in the pipeline, or click the Edit Stage Templates button and double-click a Stage Template in the window that appears.
The stage template editor in Studiometry lets you create fully customizable "stages" that can include nested Gantt and To Do items. A stage template can be added to one or more Project Templates for future use, or added directly to an active Project.
Setting up the required items and dependency for your stage template involves adding Gantt and To Do items, and then arranging them to your liking. You can add Gantt and To Do items to the stage template by clicking the "Add Gantt Item" and "Add To Do" buttons. The Template Requirements table will update to give you visual feedback regarding the dependencies of entered items, as you can see below:
A. Linking To Dos to a Gantt Item
If you would like to link a To Do to a Gantt item in the stage template, simply drag the To Do directly below a Gantt item that is not already dependent on another Gantt item. Studiometry gives you the option to link your Gantt items to either (A) a single parent Gantt item, or (B) one or more To Dos.
B. Linking a Gantt items to a Parent Gantt Item
Requires Studiometry 9.0 or newer!
If you would like to create a Gantt item that is dependent on the status of another Gantt item (for example, item B cannot start until item A has been complete), you can do so by doing the following:
- Drag the dependent item below the parent item in the list of template requirements
- Select the dependent item and choose a dependency besides "No Gantt Links"
- This should automatically increase the dependency depth, and the item should now appear indented the list to visually show its dependency
- If you'd like to change the dependency depth (and possibly change the parent Gantt item) use the Increase and Decrease buttons
