How do I add assests that were purchased prior to this current financial year without assigning a from account?

To add previous Assets most users simply create a funnel account (expense for example) that they use to create the previous transactions. Simply mark the account as not tax deductible and it will not show up in reports. You can also change the association to keep the account out of your way.
