When using the popup Calendar in any window where it's provided, clicking on Today returns a blank date entry.
Granted that for a new entry when the popup Calendar is called, it is prepopulated with Today's correct date. For recurring work I frequently duplicate a previous entry and change the duplicate's information to a current version. In this mode the popup Calendar is populated with the date of its original creation. To change that date to a current one, you must advance the Calendar month-by-month to the current month and then select the current day. A more efficient way would be to click Today to get the current date.
