Add ability to 'reorder' "Tier Item Type" entries in Summary

If you are working with a Summary Report in 11.03 and want to 'invert' the grouping you have to recreate the summary entries.  This tedious if you have made adjustments to the defaults on the rows (e.g. made 'specific' selections etc.) as these are lost when you recreate the rows in the right order.

Would be neater if you could simply re-order the rows making up the summary report.  So (e.g.) drag one row from bottom of stack to middle.  Or do by clicking on "up" and "down" ordering buttons or some such.

  Any word on this? It is really needed for invoices/quotes where the costs are perceived in relation to each other.

  @RobertLuxford  In Visual Templates for both Invoices and Reports you can alter the sequence of items in the Edit window with drag and drop. The OP was asking for this type of functionality in Summary Reports.

  Hi Rob. Thanks for the reply. Sadly I am not able to see/find what you are referring to. "Edit" window, not sure which one and can't see the drag and drop feature. Studiometry 11.1.2

  These are the two areas I have found myself in.

  Preferences/templates/visual template editor/ edit debitcredit item row area?

  Or Client/project record, reports - edit report and then the checklist of items. 

   

  Is there a tutorial video on this?

  Okay, here's a little project with three work items in it (Figure 1).

  If I create a report for this project (using the second path you mention in your post), an Edit Report window opens and shows the three work items in the same sequence they appeared in Figure 1. (See Figure 2) Note that All is selected in Item Sets list box in Figure 2. In order for drag and drop to work in the Report Edit window, Item Sets list box must be changed to Custom. Now drag and drop works and the sequence of items displayed can be dragged to a new order as shown in Figure 3. When the report is created, the work items will be sequenced in the order determined by the drag and drop in the Report Edit window.

  Similarly, if I create an Invoice for this project, an Edit Invoice window appears (Figure 4), and the items can be reordered by drag and drop here as well. Note that the Edit Invoice window does not have an All choice, so the Debt/Credit work items can be reordered without implementing a Custom setting. Just click on one of the work items and drag it to a new location in the sequence.

  The Purchase Order template chosen in Figures 2 & 3 has custom fields in it so my Edit Report window looks different than yours will.

  Thank you Rob, got it. My 20 item quote makes a lot more sense now. Is there a comprehensive manual that documents all of these features? I don't mean to sound ungrateful, at its price Studiometry is exceptional value. However in the age of online help guides and video tutorials I feel like I only know enough about this software to struggle by. I grew up reading software manuals cover to cover so I would know if the software had an answer for a problem when it arose. I can't find one on the Oranged Site. 
  
  What is the best way to discover all of the features and real world tips and tricks? I would like to make sure I am getting the most out of it for me and the studio.

  Like you, historically I've always learned software by studying manuals, but comprehensive manuals are not Studiometry's strong point. There is a Knowledge Base with quite a number of articles and video tutorials located here:

  If you hadn't yet discovered them, they will be a great help to you. Some of them are for earlier versions of Studiometry but are still helpful in learning some of the possibilities of the software. Study the document Variable Definitions. From it you can infer some possibilities just from the variable names and their descriptions.

  I started around version 6 choosing Studiometry as having the best cost/benefit proposition over other software offered. Learning has been a process of evolution both personal and in the software itself. The best way to discover features is to focus on a task which you would like to solve, and then study the videos, documents, and keyword search through the Studiometry forum for anything related to that task. Then just jump in and try stuff. Ultimately, I think it will be worth your effort.

  Thanks Rob. Is a manual on the agenda at Oranged? If not how do we get it on the agenda? With charge out rates a between $80 and $160 per hour there is too much time and money at stake to leave the management of a studio up to trial and error, evolution and inference. 
  I've been running this software for three years now and still I have a hard time working out if the invoice matches the quote. Sounds ludicrous but quotes are liquid. 

  A dedicated manual current for the version will save thousands of dollars of time simply by enabling the efficient us of the software.
