Summary Reports - Controls for font size of reports produced

Currently if I generate a summary report and print it, the print-out uses 15pt Lucida Grande for the line items.  This is huge size for a line-item.  The already large block headings in the report are 16pt Lucida Grande - so the body text is only fractionally smaller than the headings, which isn't that helpful I think (do you really think people can tell 1pt font size differences on-screen?).

It would be very nice if you could specify what font / size any given report uses.  Different reports have different needs, and the option to configure this to suit each use would be helpful.  

If not, would it be possible to shrink the size of the font in printed reports?  Say make it 14pt for headings and 12pt for line items?  Struggling to think of many that need every line at 15pt.

  If printing from a Mac, you can use the File Menu > Page Setup option, and then change the Scale to something smaller to fit more information into one page. This will scale the entire report including font sizes.

  Nice idea. If only it actually worked... at least on my computer the output produced by a summary report seems unaffected by the setting in Page Setup.

  See attached video showing what happens when you change values.

  BTW.  Video also shows the difficulty you have with Summary Report windows that don't 'show up' as "windows".  Once they get stuck behind things they are really hard to find / bring to front.  Any chance we can have 'real' windows for summary reports at some point?  Thx.

  You need to select Page Setup from within the Summary viewing window. Studiometry has a default page setup for several program-wide reports that can be accessed from the main window, and then a separate page setup for each summary viewing window.

  Oh.  OK - that works, but as a solution it is very obscure - the kind of thing that would tax the best manual writers.  

  So I checked.  If it is documented somewhere, I couldn't find it. Certainly no mention of it here: https://oranged.zendesk.com/entries/26065416-Custom-Summaries

  Any undocumented solution to the "windows that are not windows" thing?

  Also - appears that the Page Setup setting is not retained if you save the summary.  Tsk!  Kind of thing you'd want given the complexity of solution proposed.

  In regards to the "windows not showing up as windows" I'm not really understanding what you're saying here. They appear in Expose/Command Center just as all windows do and are a standard document type window.

  The only way to find / retrieve a summary report window in Studiometry is to use the "Expose/Command Centre".  This does not appear to conform to Apple UI guidance, and in practical terms is not so helpful either.  If I am looking for a lost window "Expose" is not what I would normally look at first - I would look at either the "Window" menu, or look the list of open windows given in context menu of the Dock Icon.  If they fail to help, I might then look in the menu containing the command that I used to generate the window to see if it had anything to offer to help.  

  e.g. See attached Screen Grab.  It shows that I've got Studiometry open.  Within Studiometry I've got the Timesheet window open, and a Summary Report open.

  • I've 'right buttoned' on the application icon - the list of open windows shows the Studiometry Window and the Timesheet window.  I can't select / pull Summary Report back to foreground using that.  Why is that?
  • If I go to the "Window" menu I cannot see any of the open windows listed - I can't pull Summary report back to foreground using that.
  • If I go the Summaries menu I can create a 'new version' of the report, but cannot retrieve the existing one.

  Not sure why I follow the model here.  If all the windows are "standard document windows", but some appear in navigating structures and others don't.  Why is that?  If you conformed to Apple guidance you would at the very least treat all the windows the same (if they are the same) and Give Users Alternate Ways to Accomplish Tasks and focus on methods that are consistent with the wider OS X experience.

  It looks like it isn't appearing in the dock menu because there is no title for the window. We have added a title to the window for 11.0.4.
