Checking Account balance is wrong?

I have version 3.1 build 2119.  Checking account balance shows up wrong now.  Problem is the balance column does not calculate transactions from the start of the account 6/2009 to 1/2010.  It then calculates the balance in the account starting in 1/2010 going forward ignoring the 47 prior transactions.  Needless to say the ending balance is totally incorrect.  My other checking account is fine and the ending balance matches my bank statement.  What is causing this?

Note this did not start until I updated to version 3.1 before the checking account balance column operated correctly.

  Accounted 3.1 calculates the balance considering the Account's start date. If a transaction is before your account's selected start date, it will not count against the balance that is calculated using the starting balance.

  You can see and change the start date by double-clicking the account in the list of accounts. If you want to, you can simply change the account's start date to an older date to ensure the transactions are included.

  Hi there.

  I have this problem on an Asset account type now I have upgraded to the most recent release. 

  There doesn't seem to be a start date for this account type.

  My balance is simply the last transaction on the account.

  Is there any way to fix this please?
