Invoice is coming up paid...?

This is the first time this has happened, so I'm assuming it has something to do with the 8.1 upgrade.

I bill a general support invoice of $200 every month for one of my clients. And when I went to do this today, the invoice keeps coming up as already been paid.

It says that this payment can be seen in the Payment tab. And when I look there, there is a payment assigned that I didn't put there. I'm not sure where it came from and why it's in this fresh invoice. Seems like a bug to me.

I deleted the payment from that invoice tab, and I hope it didn't delete the payment from somewhere else.

Is this a bug?

  Studiometry 8.1 and newer have the ability to check for surplus payments from previous invoices (for example the invoice amount was $1000, but the payment was for $1500) and then apply them to new invoices. This will be done automatically when creating new invoices, or done with confirmation when editing old invoices.

  We will be adding a setting in Studiometry 8.1.1 to disable this feature if you'd like.

  Oh, got it. Thank you for the clarification. So when I delete that payment from the invoice (payment tab) it's not removing the payment, just it's allocation to that particular invoice..

  No that will still delete the actual item. If you want to not apply it to the invoice, close the window, edit the payment, and uncheck that specific invoice from the payment's associated invoices list.

  Damn, that means I deleted a payment. And I have no idea from where.
