iCal and To-do duplicating and syncing problems (with server and iCloud)

Hey everyone, 

We're a new company that's set up a server and two computers that sync with it to Studiometry, and really could do with some advice! We want to able to use the syncing capabilities between iCal and Studiometry, but are encountering some major woes every way we try. We'd love some advice!

We tried the three computers syncing with a shared Calendar on iCal, which resulted in endless duplicates. Following this, we tried to sync to a calender via iCloud, again with each computer linked to the same calendar via iCloud, which also resulted in endless duplication. Following a help desk email, we tried just setting up the server to sync with an iCloud calendar (and have disconnected the other computers) but duplications are still occuring – we can't work out why!

We also have an issue where iCal entries are being turned into To dos within studiometry, and also duplicating when either of us open up Studiometry...

If anyone has any advice we'd love to know!

  Hi Sam,

  Sorry to hear you're having issues. Generally, the duplicates you run into while syncing happen because of having multiple users syncing to the same calendar. I know we recommend to just have your server syncing to iCal/Calendar, and it sounds like you turned that off for your other machines. There might still be one machine doing syncing, which could easily cause problems if you have two Studiometry's on different machines syncing with the same calendar that is also synced by a second utility.

  In regards to Calendar items appearing as To Dos in Studiometry, all events and tasks in Studiometry are classified and stored as To Dos. Each To Do, however, can be either a standard To Do or an Event. In Studiometry 10.0.1 and newer your Event-To Dos will sync to your iCal/Calendar, and your To Dos will sync to reminders.

  You can setup additional syncing options as well in 10.0.1 by going to the Preferences Window > System Syncing section and assigning a separate calendar for tasks and events.
