Summary of completed projects by completed date

I have so far been unsuccessful in creating a summary report that lists completed projects by the year they were completed in.

 

I made a simple report (see attached) with two items.  Year and then project.  The sort for Year was the date and the sort for Project was the Completed On date.  What happens is any project that has either a Start Date or Completed Date in that year get's listed with that year rather than just the projects that have a completed date in the year.

 

What am I missing here?

  Hello,

  So the problem with this is that the summary itself is based on the Work item dates. So the "year" tier will sort the items by years for the work done within the project. So basically it will split the projects up to show any information they have for that year. The date tiers are used when, for example, you want to see the amount of work done each week for a project.

  The best thing you can do is simply remove the year tier, and then you'll have a flat list of sorted projects based on their completed date.

  Thanks, that did the trick.  Maybe you can add this level of sorting to the wish list.  It would be nice to be able to show this by year or other kinds of groupings.
